Gr.11 Biology Class Learns about the Gut Microbiome

PhD student Cassandra Sgarbossa was invited to talk about gut health and psychiatric illnesses for a virtual Q&A session with Eastside Secondary School’s Gr.11 Biology class. Students asked a variety of questions such as:

  • Are there ways to boost your mental health through bacteria?
  • What kinds of food affect your mood?
  • Can poor gut health lead to future psychiatric illnesses?
  • How does a student get involved in research?
  • Can you take bacteria (through biological samples) from a healthy individual and transplant it to someone with depression?
Virtual Q&A between Gr.11 Biology Class and Cassandra Sgarbossa.

Thank you to Mrs. Lammers (teacher) & the entire Gr.11 class for such interesting questions!
